The Lidcombe Program was developed by Dr. Mark Onslow and his colleagues at the University of Sydney’s Australian Stuttering Research Centre as a behavioral intervention for stuttering in preschool aged children. After training, speech-language pathologists teach parents to administer appropriate feedback about fluency and stuttering to their children in their everyday-speaking environment. Studies have shown that stuttering can be maintained at near zero following treatment with the Lidcombe Program. This treatment has been adjusted for school-aged children and special populations.
