At Island Therapies we assess, treat, and help prevent speech and language disorders. Cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and other related impairments are treated through individual and/or group therapy. We help patients develop and/or recover reliable communication and swallowing skills so they can fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles.

Island Therapies specializes in​ a variety of​ intervention​s​ with children from ​infancy​ through high school who have speech and language impairments and is currently providing diagnostic and therapeutic speech and language services to children who have abnormal auditory perception, childhood apraxia of speech, articulation disorders, auditory processing deficits, phonological disorders, receptive and/or expressive language disorders, developmental and neurogenic fluency disorders, oral/speech motor disorders, tongue thrust, and word retrieval difficulties.​ ​We assess, treat, and help prevent speech and language disorders, cognitive communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and other related impairments which are treated through individual and/or group therapy. After completing graduate school and doing her fellowship in speech and language pathology, ​Ruth opened ​her pediatric private ​in Newport Beach in 2001​. She ​has consistently received units which exceed state and national requirements and has received awards for continuing education (ACE) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association​ (ASHA)​. She graduated with honors and is a recipient of an Outstanding Student Award from the California Speech Language and Hearing Association​ (CSHA)​. She was honored at the Year of the Child Who Stutters Symposium for her commitment and volunteer service with the National Stuttering Association​ (NSA)​.​ In June of 2015, Ruth received a full scholarship and was privileged to attend an international week-long workshop ​sponsored by the Stuttering Foundation of America (SFA).

Ruth spent a portion of her childhood in Middle East and went to boarding school in Europe. ​She enjoys volunteering her time at local community clinics, hospitals, schools, and orphanages in the states as well as abroad. ​ As a result of these enriching experiences, she has been exposed to many cultures and languages, and enjoys working with the people from all walks of life. ​Ruth​ takes great pleasure seeing the positive difference she makes in the lives of the families with whom she works​ and ​is passionate about training clinicians, participating in research, and helping the community she serves.
